Yesterday I looked at the dirty plastic folding chair on my porch- the one that looks like I pulled it out of the trash - and thought, "you know, I'd really like to have better furniture out here." I've thought about upgrading for awhile but never really prioritized it as a must-do. So as I had done before, I had the thought, made the simple energetic request, and imagined what it would feel like to enjoy my outdoor space more. I figured I'd look for something over the weekend and so I went about my day and forgot about it.
Then, in a magical turn of events last night, my neighbor randomly asked me if I wanted some of his old outdoor furniture- specifically a steel rocking chair- still in great condition and the perfect size for my porch. Umm yes, please.
Why some things manifest in minutes and others seem to take forever is a mystery. Perhaps it's a combination of our readiness and our resistance levels, how attached we are to the outcome, and how much we can trust in the unfathomable magic of divine timing.
“Life takes care of me. Always. I have nothing to fear and I have everything to appreciate. I am never doing this alone. I can walk in the world with ease, trusting that all comes to me and all comes to be in perfect time.”
This was the message that came through my higher guidance this morning when I asked what I could remember to help me move through some of the resistance I was feeling toward my day. Despite “knowing better” I had a huge feeling of overwhelm and responsibility. The need to get my plans in motion and to figure out all the details right now.
A couple of hours later, while running on a rarely frequented street in my neighborhood, I stopped to take this picture. It occurred to me afterwards that I had taken a very similar photo in the exact same spot nearly 2 years ago. So much has taken place since then. So many experiences and opportunities that came in - often by pleasant surprise - and all in a way that was beyond my imagination. Beyond what I could have figured out beforehand or attempted to do alone.
Thank you life for the perfect example. I get it. Trust trust trust trust trust...
Maybe life isn't withholding anything from you after all. Maybe it's just waiting on your readiness and relying on your willingness to change so that it can set up all the important pieces, arrange meetings with the relevant players, and slowly prepare you for the part you hope to play, the things you'd like to experience, and the way you'd like to feel. Maybe you're right where you need to be in this process of alignment. Maybe life is actually supporting you with its timing as it orchestrates - and excitedly anticipates -your eventual becoming.
There really is an answer to every call, a deliverance for every request. It's real. It's resonance. Energetic. Scientific. What you are looking for is looking for you too. Just have to keep your mind clear enough to receive the guidance, your body tuned in enough to show you the way. What you are hoping to find, is hoping to be found. Just have to keep your eyes -and heart- open enough to recognize it when you do.
Finding exactly what you're looking for is awesome. Finding what you didn't even know you were looking for is way better.
What if you let life surprise you? What if you expected to find something good, but didn't put any restrictions on how good it could be? What if it was better than you could even imagine?
A friend keeps reminding me to "live in the question." So ok. Today I'm living in those.
Today I will look in the mirror without criticizing my appearance; wishing this or that was smaller/bigger/tighter. I will not reject any reflection of this holy body, the current home of my soul. I will release myself from the clutches of popular opinion, remembering that trends are ever-changing, that standards can be optional, and that perspective is merely a choice. I will say goodbye to old habits of self-criticism. I will welcome the euphoria of self-approval and the personal power that can only come from self-appreciation. I will recognize the purpose in my uniqueness and the miraculous magic of the human form.
And I will revel in my freedom.
Focusing on the good won't make you some naive Pollyanna. It doesn’t mean you are unaware or not awake. No, it means you are confident in your divine birthright as a conscious co-creator on this planet. It means you are aware of your ability to affect change and to work with the natural universal laws to make things better for yourself and for everyone. It means you know that you are magic. And you know that working your magic means reaching for the highest possible thought and focusing on the love and the light - the divinity - within all things. This is the truth of who you are - of who we all are. And it will always bring us back to a place of peace and harmony.
These petals fell off some flowers sitting in a nearby vase. While rearranging them into a pretty picture, I had this thought come through: Things are never as awful or as hopeless as you tell yourself they are. Difficult? Yes. Challenging? Yes. Requiring you to sit with sadness, discomfort, regret, and/or loneliness? Yes. Asking you to release your need to control everything? Yes!!! But hopeless? If you are still breathing, the answer is no.
There's always another way to achieve the essence of what you are seeking, another angle to approach from, another purpose to serve. There's always something new on its way- something just on the horizon- that you are not yet able to fully see. Trust that it's good and it will be. Trust that you are moving towards what you desire to experience (and how you desire to feel) more and more each day. Trust and then let your petals fall where they will.
So often we are sleepwalking through this existence without recognizing how magical the seemingly mundane really is. Everything within our world is alive and speaking to us. If we allow it, that is. If we can open up to this constant communication we can fully appreciate its beauty and receive its gifts. These sights can wake us up from our ordinary humanness. They can connect us to something bigger - to the essence of who we really are - beyond our monotony. They can remind us of our eternal nature, our responsibility, our greater purpose and our connection to everything everywhere.
He “broke up” with me about 3 years ago. On the street. In front of a Señor Fish, 2 blocks from my house. I write “broke up” using quotes because we were never anything official during our summer-long involvement even though I loved him very deeply throughout our whole acquaintance, and perhaps well before we met.
I had believed that I was the only woman in his life, even though his hesitance in going anywhere outside either of our homes as well as his tendency to disappear for several days at a time, indicated otherwise. The connection was unbelievably strong, a soul-mating to a degree I hadn’t yet experienced. Sure, I may have only been focusing on his potential and ignoring his actions. But I loved him, there was so much magic and synchronicity and psychic-ness to the connection - how could this not be “the real thing?”
And yet, there I was, standing on the sidewalk, very much aware that he had made his choice and it wasn’t me; he was getting back together with his ex-girlfriend and they were going to start a family.
I walked to my house, tears streaming down my face, completely in shock over what was transpiring. It didn’t make any sense. My heart and soul had led me to him. How could it not work out? Why would I have brought myself such pain? How could this be happening to me?
As I approached my front door, I was met by nearly 50 crickets waiting for me on the porch. I say 50 but it could easily have been 100. The sheer number of them hopping and crawling around shook me out of my despair. Crickets always tend to bring blessings, an indicator of positive expansion and taking big leaps, especially in consciousness. Was this fantastic magical display supposed to comfort me, letting me know that somehow this awful heartache was a blessing?
When you’re in it, it’s so hard to see that what is happening is for your highest good. Looking back though, that is most definitely the case. While some soulmates are long-term companions, some are merely temporary catalysts to our next phase of self-expansion; opening us up to more self-love and freedom, assisting us in aligning with the authentic vibration of our soul.
In this way, what appears to be a heartbreak is actually just the precursor to a heart-breakthrough.
When we look at things from this angle, with enough space and distance and time, we can actually say it and mean it: Thank you, thank you, for not giving me what I thought I wanted. Because what I have received instead is so much better. Thank you for giving me the gift of myself.
What good is this now inspiring me to do? What expression of love is this now inspiring me to be?
We all have the ability to positively affect the environment around us. We get stuck in upsetting news or events when we feel powerless, but our power always lies in our ability to alter our energetic expression. To focus our attention toward solution. To see beyond current circumstances. To have new conversations. To ask new questions. To create space for new possibilities. To take actions from a place of love, compassion, and hope. To encourage others to do the same. May what upsets you in the world, be what inspires you to change it.
This morning, after reading the doomsday news and feeling the strong pull of fear and negativity, I asked to see something magical in the world. Later on in the day, I saw this. The picture barely does it justice but it looked as if a giant angel was flying over us. Maybe it really is that simple. Ask and in time you will receive.
Also, my dog weirdly smelled like Milano cookies all day. I'm counting that one too.
Who or what outside of me have I been allowing to define me? To choose my identity? To limit my expression? To restrict what I believe is possible? To determine what I am here to do or be?
Today is a good day to ask those questions. And an even better one for consciously choosing to let go of whatever it is that may be holding you back.
Today I lit a pink candle for love. I lit this candle to know more love, to be more love, and to see more love within my own personal life and in the world. I did so in preparation for tomorrow morning’s full (super)moon in Taurus. When I think Taurus I think stabilize, ground, and cultivate. I love the word cultivate because it means persistent action over time. To cultivate is to develop, to improve upon, to become. It implies that we are not powerless to the conditions of our lives. It means we can create the kind of world we’d like to live in.
"Expect good things."
I heard this phrase today and it hit me just how simple and freeing that would be. Why not leave the house expecting good things to happen to you? Why not enter into a situation assuming something good will come from it?
I don't know about anyone else but I'm soooo exhausted from all the mental, emotional, and physical energy it requires to be on the defensive all the time, awaiting the next calamity, dodging the next disaster. Ugh. Enough already. Fear doesn't have to be our default setting. We don't have to keep anticipating and reliving our wounded pasts. If we aren't in control of the greater universe, but only of our personal will and point of view- if what we focus on grows- why wouldn't we choose to trust, pay attention to, and EXPECT the good in every situation? Why wouldn't we give ourselves this gift?
Having a desire is one thing. Becoming the version of yourself that is capable of achieving/attracting/receiving that desire is another. It is all about what we are being. It is all about matching the energy of our intended outcome. And then ofcourse, believing in our ability to co-create with all that is. Letting go into the unfathomable infinity of possible and potential paths to its manifestation. And trusting the process without needing to predict how or where out of fear. It is all in our becoming. It is all in our strength of belief. It is all in our surrender to this magic.
“The Quantum Field responds not to what we want. It responds to who we are being. Since every potential in the universe is a wave of probability that has an electromagnetic field and is energetic in nature, it makes sense that our thoughts and feelings are no exception. The thoughts we think send an electrical signal out into the field. The feelings we generate magnetically draw events back to us. Together, how we think and how we feel produces a state of being, which generates an electromagnetic signature that influences every atom in our world. This should prompt us to ask, “what am I broadcasting (consciously or unconsciously) on a daily basis?” - Dr. Joe Dispenza
Making a wish is easy. But believing it can actually come true and taking new actions in support of your desired circumstance, takes openness, fearlessness, and courage. No wonder we make our wishes by blowing on dandelions, the flower whose name means "lion's tooth."
In magic and in life, there really is no substitute for self-advocation.
When we think we already know everything, the world can become really small... and boring. We've already got all the answers so we stop asking questions. Yet, it's the questions- the curiosities, the explorations, and the discoveries about what we don't know- that make life fun and exciting.
Try looking at the people and the circumstances of your life from a new angle. Ask some new questions, expect new answers. Be open to what you may not have seen before. Allow yourself to be surprised by what you don't know.
Wonder isn't just for the naive and immature. It's a way to find the magic even in the mundane.
